This category is also vast which
might include tires used for agricultural lands, forest, snow and sand. But
mainly they are referred for tires used by giant wheel loaders, miners and
other construction and mining/digging machines. They are also popular with the
name of earth moving tires in Europe. There are some big names from China as
well in this segment and Chinese construction boom has relied heavily on
vehicles having their own domestically produced tires.
They are essentially all radial
tubeless with high ply rating and mostly block or lug pattern tread. The main
difference and competent are the steel belted and nylon belted tires. Both have
their distinct advantages but steel belted are more in use. Nylon, by virtue of
its nature, is more flexible, which makes tires less prone to bending while
falling in a steep pothole. But in terms of robustness, steel radial otr tires
are by far much stronger. Most high performing OTR tires are made to take even
several inches of thick and long nails and screws and still pass the puncture
test. One of the key factors is the tires resistance to puncture. Since owing
to their sizes, these mammoths are no easy to remove and be replaced.
